Born in Tokyo in 1969, Hishikawa began his career in the music industry at CBS Sony Group. He was then temporarily transfered to Sony’s PR Department, where he participated in directing and sound engineering exhibitions of modern artists. He moved to NY in 1991 and made a transition to the film industry. He worked as an editing and sound engineer as well as a director in various kinds of productions such as TV including broadcasts for CNN and NBC, music videos, movies, and also trailers. He moved back to Japan and began working borderlessly as a freelance movie director, set director, graphic designer, and web designer. He then participated in the launch of DRAWING AND MANUAL. In the same year, he organized the “Motion Graphics Exhibition” in which he took the main role as exhibition director for 4 years. The exhibition consequently became a forerunner of the motion graphics movement. By combining different aspects of production, he art directed brands and products development. In 2011, he was re-assigned as professor. The same year, the NTT Docomo TVCM he directed, “Xylophone” became a triple crown winner at the Cannes Lions. From 2011 to 2013, his first solo photo exhibition “Found stories from a movie that doesn’t exist” travelled across the country. And in 2013, he wrote and directed his first short film, “SUZU” and in 2015 his media art work themed Hokusai Shunga, “Yuki-mi Shunga” debuts in Milan. Same year, he directs the exhibition “Motion Science” at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT in Tokyo Midtown.

Born in Tokyo in 1974, graduated from the science and engineering department at Nihon University. As an ocean architectural engineer major student, he spent most of his college time for architecture competitions and in 1997 won a second prize at the “21st Century School” design competition held by Architectural Institute of Japan. Same year, he joined DRAWING AND MANUAL. involved in various types of production including video, motion graphics and new media design. As a freelancer, he designed websites for Sony Japan, AIBO, Honda and more. He also worked at Razorfish Tokyo for a while and in 2001 returned Drawing and Manual Inc. as a head of design department/executive vice-president. In 2007 he established Version Zero Dot Nine Co., Ltd as group business and in 2014 reunited with DRAWING AND MANUAL. in order to develop a new line of creation.

Born in 1979 in Nagoya. An actor-turn-director. After working at a film production company, he moved to Canada and started directing music videos and movies, while dealing with technicals at the same time. In 2008, he moved back to Japan and started working at DRAWING AND MANUAL. With a wide variety of film production experience on both directing and technical sides, he has been involved in directing , shooting and editing a large number of production. Since 2012, he started his long time dream of round-the-world trip with his wife. And in 2014, his first video DVD/Blu-Ray album “World Time-Lapse”(KADOKAWA/DRAWING AND MANUAL) was released. Many of his visual works are presented at the world video collection site, “1 Minute Journey”. Also his website, “Tabisuru-Suzuki” was selected as one of the official recommended works in the entertainment category of Japan Media Arts Festival 2014. He continues on his round-the-world trip as a traveling filmmaker while writing columns on the Mercedes-Benz website “mb!” and the magazine “MacFan”.

Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1979, he worked at Ralph Lauren after majoring in fashion design. He then switched his career to the music industry working as a sound engineer at night clubs and live music venues as well as concert tours and music festivals. While being involved in various types of music production, he started looking for his own expression for creativity. In 2006 he began working as a designer at desegno ltd., where he oversaw graphic design, web, video, and music production primarily for clients in the fashion and beauty industries such as Jill Stuart and Moët&Chandon. In 2009, he joined DRAWING AND MANUAL, where he handles work in a growing number of creative fields including corporate VI, promotional visuals for television programs, and sound design while deepening his commitment to typography.

Yutaka Obara Director
Born in Kanagawa in 1981 and graduated from Keio University in 2004. He started his career at the TVCM production, Spoon Inc. While working for a free CM/Film director Hisashi Kikuchi, he found himself interested in interactive expression and started working as a web designer at TYO Inc. making websites and online contents. In 2011 he joined Drawing and Manual Inc. and makes TVADs and WebCMs for large corporations with documentary approach. He has also directed various large scale projection mapping events in Kanazawa. Assigned a part-time instructor at Musashino Art University since 2013.
Art Director / Collage artist
Born in Matsumoto city, Nagano in 1987. After graduating from Musashino Art University, he started working at DRAWING AND MANUAL. Exploring his own aesthetic using a collage technique, he has produced music videos and cover artworks for artists, a web CM for Mercedes-Benz, a station ID for MTV, an opening sequence for BS Asahi TV series. His appearance as a collage artist in the TV program of NHK gave him much public attention and he was listed in the book, “100 Top Visual Artist 2013”.As a lifework, he organizes a series of paper collage workshop in many places throughout Japan in order to look further into creative communication and representation.

Born in Okayama in 1981. After graduating from Tama Art University as a product design major, he started his career at Elephant Design Co., ltd. producing concept movies, designing web interface, and directing sound for equipments with leading electric appliances companies as clients. Since he joined DRAWING AND MANUAL in 2012, he has been involved in a broader field of productions, such as motion graphics, title sequence productions, and concept making. Additionally, in recent years he has worked with woodcrafters to promote interior product made of solid woods.
